Angelo Azura Jimenez

Angelo Azura Jimenez is the 22nd University of the Philippines (UP) President.
Attorney Jimenez graduated with a degree in Sociology and Law from the University of the Philippines - Diliman and passed the bar examination in 1994. He earned his master’s degree in Public Management from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy under the National University of Singapore (NUS). Attorney Jimenez is aso a Lee Kuan Yew Fellow of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
He is a two-time member of the UP Board of Regents, first in 1992 as a Student Regent and as a Regent from 2016 to 2021, making him the first UP President that has served in both capacities. Among his major accomplishments in the academe is his role as a lecturer at the UP Law Center Institute of the Administration of Justice from 2016 to 2021.
As a legal expert, he has made extensive contributions to national issues on overseas labor and global migration. He has worked as a labor attache in Japan, Kuwait, Iraq, and Lebanon. He also served as the Deputy Administrator of the Office of the Secretary of Labor and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) from 2005 to 2007. From these efforts, he received the Presidential Citations for protecting Overseas Filipino Workers in the Middle East.
